So yes, the whole thing is based on preprogrammed loop libraries, in both cases. The loops they have in the brain of this have all the notes at once (upper right corner in Logic, knobs dimed in EZD) and the lower settings take notes away from those patterns as the pad or knobs are eased off. They both work more or less the same, the Logic XY-pad is a UI thing that EZD uses a few knobs to represent instead.
